Cavaliers Looking for a Comeback Season

Cavaliers Looking for a Comeback Season

The Cavaliers, having a less than average season last year, are looking to come back this year and make their city proud once again. Last year, the Cleveland Cavaliers went an awful 22-58 in their 82 game season. Not quite what they had hoped for. As for this year, the Cavs are hoping for a huge turn around. And getting the first overall pick in the 2013-2014 NBA draft is a good way to start.

Picking up Anthony Bennett, a 6’8”, 240 lb. forward out of UNLV, the Cavs are looking to put some power into their lineup. Also, Andrew Bynum will be added to the roster this year, after missing all of last year with a knee injury. Bynum was originally on the L.A. Lakers, later traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, and then out to free agency. The Cavs saw Bynum released and they knew they had to have him. Not only does Bynum bring size, he has amazing athleticism as well. He is able to soar over players to grab rebounds and score points. And let’s not forget, the guy is an NBA All-Star. Although he brings these things, he won’t be getting much playing time at first. With the knee injury last year, the Cavs don’t want to risk anything this year. If it weren’t for the injury, Bynum could be one of the best in the game. “He could easily be one of the best centers in the game,” Coach Mike Brown tells reporters. The whole city of Cleveland should be excited to watch Bynum play this season.

The Cavaliers already have some well-known names on their team. Kyrie Irving, a returning All-Star, Tristan Thompson, who had a very promising season last year, and Anderson Varejao, who averaged the most rebounds in the NBA until he was injured in the beginning of the season, are all returning this year. In addition, Dion Waiters, the third overall pick in last years draft, is returning to the team as well. The Cavaliers are a young, but very talented team. With Kyrie Irving leading this team, there is nowhere to go but to the top.

The Cavaliers also added another addition to the team. New head coach, Mike Brown. He had coached for the Lakers the season before, and already knows the Cleveland team very well. He also coached in Cleveland from 2005-2010 until being fired on May 4, 2010. Brown coached the King of Basketball (Lebron James) and won Coach of the Year in 2009. Now that his star player is playing for the Miami Heat, it will be interesting to see who he builds up next, and how he will make this team successful once again.

With all of these new additions to the Cavs this year, everyone is looking forward to this season. The whole city, even state, is anticipating the Cavs being an elite team once again.
