Alex Muir: Ballin’

Alex Muir: Ballin

Alex Muir is a senior graduating from ChardonHigh school this year. He is continuing his studies and playing football at AshlandUniversity.

“He is a freak athlete, not that tall, probable about 5-10, but jacked. He has huge muscles and puts up mad numbers in the weight room,” Senior Sam Wilks said. Alex has been working hard his whole life in sports. When he was younger he lived in New Jersey and played roller hockey and was very talented. In fourth grade he moved to Ohio and the roller hockey scene was not very good, but he still managed to get on team Ohio. I personally went to one of his practices and played with his team and him. I got smoked. At the end of practice everyone left but Alex stayed on the court to play against the adults. At age 11 he was playing against adults 18 and up. “He was playing with people twice his age, it was crazy,” Brian Kiss said. He was also a leader on the team. He always showed great sportsmanship and acted like the leader.

“He carried that over into football too; all the underclassmen looked up to him. Plus he is huge so that helped. In the weight room people just stop to watch him lift,” senior Darren Marunia said.

Alex plans to play defensive back at Ashland. “Because of his height, vertical jump, and speed cornerback would be a perfect position for him. He can also hit, witch will really help him progress,” said Junior Joe Connick. Because of his skill set if he puts in the work, he thinks he has a good chance to start as a freshman.

“Starting in college as a freshman at any level is a very hard thing to do. You have to have the skills, but more importantly put in the work. From when I played sports with Alex I can see that he has both. He works very hard to be the best and his god given talent helps too,” Junior Andrew Gray said.

Alex has some important years coming up in his life, if he plays well he plans on transferring out to a division one school. That has been his goal ever since he started playing football. He has the drive and leadership to get there. Now he just has to let his play on the field do the talking for him. “I know I can do it if I work hard and give it my all witch I plan on doing,” Alex said.
