FAQ’s-Freshman Ask Questions

Kirstin Henry, Co-Director of Media

Learning all of the tips and tricks for high school can be tricky, especially as an incoming freshman. Many of you have started to learn the ropes around Chardon, but some of you still had some questions. Luckily, there’s a pretty clever senior in Newspaper who is willing to answer some of those questions. You may know, there are bags labeled “Freshman Ask Questions (FAQ’s)” in all of your freshman mentoring classes, that many of you already took the opportunity to utilize. I am here today to answer some of the questions I have received:

When did CHS start freshman mentoring?” -Anonymous

  • Great question!! Chardon actually started the freshman mentoring program in 2003, it was started by Mrs.Ptasznik, Mrs.Butala, and many others. Seniors strive for the opportunity to be a senior mentor not just because of the nice parking spots; They also want to make sure that all freshmen come into the high school feeling comfortable that they know older kids (a.k.a. “mentors”) who can help them along their first year in high school. It’s also a great way to get to know new people and create new memories.

On a scale of 1 to 10, where on Earth did the pyramids from the Aliens give birth to babies?”

  • This one was a toughie, but after extensive research I have found the answer to be 6.

Last but certainly not least:

Can I use the bathroom?”

  • I only have one answer for this question, “I don’t know, can you?”

Feel free to drop questions into the bags that are left in your mentoring groups daily and don’t be afraid to ask about anything! School, homework help…life! All the above is accepted!

I will be answering and publishing your answers every week until freshman mentoring ends!

Until next time,
