Do You Think You Can Dance?

Do+You+Think+You+Can+Dance%3F

As this weekend passed, the CHS dance team had their first dance clinic. Freshman through Senior girls and boys are welcome to sign up. Attending the clinics, and trying out, will earn you a spot on the CHS dance team. The dance team performs at home basketball games.

This is the second year that the dance team has been created. Our very own classmate, Senior Christina Meyers started the dance team last year. Christina has put in so much time and effort getting this approved and having the time of her life. This isn’t the first time that the Meyers have tried to start a dance team. Christians older sister Sara had tried to start the same exact thing when she was in high school. Sadly, Saras plan didn’t go through, unlike her little sister Christina.

With their mother Jannette running a dance studio in Chardon and having so much dancing background, you couldn’t pick a more perfect family to take on this roll. Talking with Christina, she had told me that she was nervous on how this year will turn out. With most of the majority of the team last year being seniors, they all left. Christina says that she doesn’t know who or how many girls/boys will try out, but she said she is going to make the most of it!

“I am super excited to just find out who my team is already, I wish I could speed this process up. What I am looking forward to the most is definitely meeting new people I’ve never talked to before. Last year, I made such good friends with the girls I never thought I would even talk to before dance team. Now I have such a great relationship with all of them and still keep in touch even if they are away at college.”

Not only has Christina started this dance team to build friendships, but also because Chardon High School has nothing like it!

“ My love for dance is crazy, so getting the school to join along with this really lets me help teacher other what I enjoy to do. This allows girls and boys who have the love for dance to express it!”
