The Indians are going to take over the AL Central this year. I’m looking forward to buying tickets for the first Indians playoff game since 2007” said Junior Nick Mysyk. After the surprising and exciting season that the Indians had last year, people have high expectations for the 2014 baseball season. The Indians are being lead by their all star second baseman Jason Kipnis. The Indians have 36 spring training games, and their  season opener is Friday March 4, 2014.

Last year the Indians had the 3rd highest batting average in the MLB. Last year was a season that no one will ever forget.

“Now that the young players have experience I’m hoping they can build on what they did last year, and get off to a good start and not collapse at the end of the season” said avid baseball fan and former coach Mr. Herner. There are still many questions that have to be answered in spring training. Mainly, the Indians have to figure out what they’re starting pitching rotation is going to be and their batting lineup for the upcoming season.

However, these questions will soon be answered as the Indians just signed there ace Justin Masterson to a one year deal. He was a huge part of the Indians rotation last year starting and closing games. A controversial decision the Indians have made was releasing closing pitcher Chris Perez while not many people liked him, he was a huge asset to the Cleveland Indians at times. “I’m looking forward to seeing the new shortstop that they are bringing up” said Freshman Perry Bewely.
