Chardon Basketball Looking to Start Fresh This Season

Chardon Basketball Looking to Start Fresh This Season

The Chardon basketball team had a below average season last year, having a record of 2-21. This year, the team is looking to flip that record around this year. The team has already made some adjustments, and they are looking to use their them to their advantage. New Head Coach, Doug Snyder, is looking forward to making some changes with this team, and is excited to see the outcome.

Having a very tall starting lineup, consisting of Zach Weiland, Joey Fodor and Andrew Gray, it’s easy to say that they will be getting most of the team’s points this year. They will be able to post up about anyone they face. Not only do the starters play well, the Chardon team this year has a lot of depth. Whenever someone needs a break the coaches aren’t afraid to throw any other player on the team in the game. All the bench players on this team can play as well as the starters, and that’s what makes this team so great.

“I’m looking forward to this season. I already can tell we are going to be a lot better than last year and this year will be a lot more fun as well,” says Senior Joe Connick. Joe Connick is competing for the starting point guard spot right now and will be happy with any outcome. Both Coach Snyder and Coach Mark know how well Joe can play, so either way, he’ll be getting a lot of playing time.

“I know we can be a great team this year. I can’t wait to see how far we go,” Joe Fodor, starting center, says. Joe Fodor will be the biggest man on the court for most of the games this season. Being 6’6”, it’s going to be hard for any player to stop him this year. And right next to Fodor on the lineup, is 6’4” forward Andrew Gray. With these two in the post, it’s going to be very hard for any team to stop this offense this year.

Not many people went out and supported this team last year due to their record. This year will be different. If you want to see them play, they start play on December 6th at GenevaHigh School. Splitting records last year with them (both 1-1), it will be exciting to see the outcome for this game, and the rest of the season as well.
