An Enchanted Evening: Homecoming 2013

An+Enchanted+Evening%3A+Homecoming+2013

Are you ready for the night where all of your dreams will come true?  Well ladies and gentlemen, it’s that time of year again to get dressed in your very best for the annual Homecoming dance on October 5th!  In case you haven’t already heard, the theme of this year’s dance is Disney.

Even before you can break out those cool moves on the dance floor, there’s s much to do. Begin by helping out your grade with the Disney-themed float for the Homecoming parade.  The next thing on the agenda is to attend the Homecoming game against Willoughby South the night before the dance. Cheer on our Hilltoppers and see our Homecoming Queen be announced!  The ladies on court this year include: Erika Ellman, Seanna Izar, Courtney Kamm, Kaylee O’Donnell, and Peyton Tatonetti.  “We’re really excited to perform with the topperettes at the Homecoming game for everyone,” Sophomores Kathryn Fairbanks, Hannah Adkins, and Ally McKelvey shared, “and getting dressed up for the dance as well!”  The king won’t be announced until the night of the dance. On court for the boys we have Michael Chauby, Jeremy Farris, Drew Gittens, Ray Recchia, and Kyle Spear.

The buzz of the details about the dance can already be heard in the CHS halls.  Who will be on court, who is going with who, what kind of dancing is appropriate, and what to wear are just some of the things on everyone’s minds.  Can’t find a date? No need to fear, your friends are always there! Riding solo to the dance with a group of your friends can still be a great time.  “I actually think it’s a lot more fun to go without a date,” Senior Katie Moore reassures. “I wouldn’t want to be stuck dancing with just one person the whole night,” Senior Matt Bolden agreed.  Dancing with all your friends can be a lot of fun, but you need to know where to draw the line between classy and trashy.

Some controversy has been stirred up recently due to the style of dancing seen at dances like Homecoming and Prom.  Otherwise known as the twerking epidemic, displayed by stars such as Miley Cyrus and Nikki Minaj, seems to have made its way to Chardon.  Remember to keep it classy! You should still have fun at the dance but refrain from any inappropriateness.  Some of your teachers will be chaperoning and would rather not see you acting like Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke at the VMA’s.

You can purchase a ticket during your lunch period for a great deal at only $20. The date is sneaking up quickly so make sure you’re ready!  Going to Homecoming is one of the school highlights of the fall season, so don’t miss out on what everyone is sure to be talking about.  Make some memories and have a good time. This Disney dance has all the makings of being a magical evening!
