Fantasy football is a competition between ten players who have a draft and pick nine starters and seven reserve players. The goal of Fantasy Football is to have more points than the opponent you’re going against. Fantasy Football is a game that allows the fans to take an active role in football. The fan creates their very own roster of players. In head-to-head leagues, a team matches up versus a different team each week. The team who receives the most points of the two receives a win for that particular week. Points are calculated by the scoring system that is either standard set by a website or custom set by the person who runs your league. For example, if you have a running back that scores a touchdown you get 6 points added to your score, which is equivalent to a touchdown. Usually a commissioner is someone in your league. The commissioner sets the league rules and the point system. A team’s total points are all of the player’s points in the starting lineup. Your reserve players still show the points they had for that week but they do not go towards your score since you did not start them. The win-loss record is the most important statistic in head-to-head leagues. The top four teams with the best win-loss record advance to the playoffs, where the #1 seed plays the #4 seed and the #2 seed plays the #3 seed. If two teams have the same record, the tie-breaker is then decided by the total points scored in the regular season of the two (or more) tied teams. Further tie-breakers can be added based on league preference.
“Fantasy football is a great way for people who don’t get to play football to stay in contact with it and when your team is not playing,” said Ty Merkle.

A poll was taken in Chardon High School asking how many kids participated in Fantasy Football. Twenty out of the twenty five asked participate in fantasy football. With that fact, you can tell Fantasy Football is an activity that is a lot of fun and can help one stay in contact with the game of football.
