Danny Parmertor: Young, Wild and Free

On February 27, a tragedy struck Chardon,Ohio and the surrounding areas. You have already heard enough of the events that have happened that day. This is not about the events, but rather about one of the victims of the terrible event: Danny Parmertor. Danny was well loved throughout the school and had many friends, all three us of being some of his best friends since middle school. We were all very close to him and have shared some of the best times of our lives with him; he will surely be missed more than anything. Most of you may be trying to forget the horrible things that happened last month, but instead of trying to forget the bad, we should try to remember the good and all the smiles that Danny brought to not only our faces, but many others as well. Danny was a great friend to all of us and many others, a great brother to his brother and sister, and a great son to his parents.

Danny moved to Chardon during his fourth grade year and attended Park Elementary. In the summers throughout elementary and middle school, Danny spent his days having fun with his friends. Wrestling on the trampoline in his backyard, riding dirt bikes in the woods, setting up Madden tournaments on his Xbox, and many other activities filled up those warm, summer days.

When our families heard of the news, no one could believe that this happened to one of our dearest friends. Even Rich Turk, Matthew Chauby’s uncle who had met Danny maybe once or twice, could not believe that this could happen to “little Danny with the big smile.” Danny had that sort of personality where people instantly liked him and would always remember him. His smile really did make you feel better even if you were mad at him. He always smiled even when things were not going great.

Danny was truly a free spirit who loved to enjoy life, always striving to experience new things. At Danny’s funeral, his brother, Domenic Parmertor, called Danny “young, wild and free.” In the past few years, Danny had become more mature and responsible; he was going toAuburn for Computer Networking and just started working at Ernst Lanes.

“He loved skiing, always wore his winter coat and pajama pants under his jeans,” his friend and Junior at Chardon High School Tyler Gardener said. Danny loved to have fun. His neighbor and sophomore at CHS, Michael Chauby recalled a story of when Danny, Kevin Shuppe and Michael went fishing in a small pond at Pymatuning. Kevin and Danny used a paddle-boat and went out to the edge of the pond and their fishing lines were caught and their rods were pulled into the lake. He loved movies and quoted Friday and Troll 2 on a regular basis. He also loved music like Wiz Khalifa. He was extremely fun-loving and an enjoyable human being.

Yesterday we went to visit Danny’s family and house, and are glad to say that they have so much support from not only the community, but all over the world. They have gotten many letters and gifts and flowers. President Obama and his wife have sent a letter to them, along with George W. Bush. It just really shows how many people cared and loved Danny, along with how many people are there for the family.

February 27 will truly be a day that lives in infamy. Danny Parmertor, one of the victims, had his life tragically taken. Danny will forever be remembered in our hearts and memories as the fun, kind-spirited, hilarious kid that he was. He was only sixteen, yet he touched the lives of so many. Rest in peace Danny Parmertor, though you are gone, you will never be forgotten.
