Everyone knows Northeast Ohio for the infamous white outs that the district has have between December and early March. In order to compensate for this, we are given an allowed amount of snow days every year that are without repercussions.  However, once these days have been used, the students and staff are forced to make them up. This means that, for example if the school was two snow days over the limit, then school would end on the 18th of May for Seniors and the 26th for Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors.

This year, the school are just about past our limit, with one Snow Day remaining, the students are growing restless as the weather is getting worse and worse, many are upset that we haven’t used our last snow day yet. Some have even come to question the effectiveness of having a Superintendent, who’s in charge of deciding if we have snow days or not, that lives in a separate district, which means often the decisions of a snow day are often made by the weather in that district versus ours. This often leads to Snow Days that are used when it really is unnecessary. Which creates the issue that our school is faced with every year: A lack of these days available when the weather is often at its worst. Creating a dangerous situation for staff and students who drive to school in the morning instead of taking the bus.
