After much careful thought and soul searching, senior Maria Mandato, has already started her campaign for prom. She has designated senior, Jessica Lane, as her campaign manager. Jessie explains, “Starting freshman year, I just knew Maria was destined to be queen. I have always pushed her to embrace school spirit with enthusiasm.”

Maria says, “Even though I have never been to a school dance, I plan to live it up and have an amazing time.” One may wonder why she has never gone to any school dances, as she loves wild dancing and being in small spaces with a lot of people. Maria adds, “I would have to say out of the many dances I am an expert at, the wobble is my all-time favorite.”

For the prom assembly, Maria will do her way by sticking to her trademark black pants and shirt. When asked about her actual prom dress, Maria replies, “Umm well, that’s just one tiny detail, anyways.”

Hopefully she will have hereditary luck, seeing as her sister, Bianca Mandato, was the CHS homecoming queen of 2011. “She’s been giving me some pointers on walking in heels, speech-giving, and perfecting the princess wave,” Maria says excitedly, “I’m especially thrilled to walk in my six-inch heels.”

Many of her classmates have wonderful things to say about her. Senior Jason Janda declares, “Maria is at every sports event and is cheering so loud, most can hear her from outside. She’s been known to get a little too passionate, however, and has almost started a couple of fights. But that only shows her intense dedication and love for high school.”

Junior, Kayla Seman says, “She is at least half-spirited every day because she always wears one of our school colors.”

With friends like that, who wouldn’t win? As for her campaign strategies, Maria discloses, “We’re having a lengthy team meeting this Thursday evening to work out specifics, but I can definitely say there will probably be a lot of cats involved.” Maria is also appealing to Starbucks, in hopes that they will be her official sponsor. “This company has made such an impact on my life, and I don’t know where I would be without its delicious coffee. Actually I do-probably skipping school everyday. Anyways, it is only appropriate that something that brings me so much joy can help me achieve my greatest goal.”

Only time can tell who will be prom queen, but watch out world, Maria Mandato is prepared to give it all she’s got.
